Chess with Death: Difference between revisions

Line 90:
* In The Sims 3, you could challenge the Grim Reaper to a game of chess in order to save someone's life. He/she better be damn good at chess.
* The "Chess Event" against Medivh in Karazhan. Failure to win the game results in the players' deaths. Medivh cheats.
* Fallen London; if your Wounds get too high, you end up on "a slow boat passing a dark beach on a silent river", where you are to be transported to Hell. There are many ways to escape, however, one of which being to play chess with the Boatman (requiring your Watchful to be a certain level), who is heavily implied to be Death. The game even lampshades it, the narration claiming, "Well, apparently he plays chess in paintings and folk-songs. Which are always accurate, of course." Each win on your part decreases the Wounds meter, and reducing it to zero lets you escape. Also, after several wins, you can switch to dice, which is a luck-based challenge but with better rewards.
