Chick Magnet: Difference between revisions

A [[Chick Magnet]] is a guy who just seems to draw girls to him like bears to honey. He can charm the pants off any girl, of about any age, without even trying, [[I Didn't Mean to Turn You On|and he usually doesn't]]. [[Clueless Chick Magnet|He may not know just the right things to say to a girl]], but says them anyway. This usually means he ends up with [[Love Triangle|two]] [[Unwanted Harem|or more]] girls vying for his affections.

See [[Mr. Fanservice]] for the guy designed to be a magnet for chicks in the real world. Don't forget [[Clueless Chick Magnet]], when the [[Chick Magnet]] doesn't even notice. And [[The Charmer]], who is seen as charismatic by others.

** Hell, Negi's such a [[Chick Magnet]] that the resident [[Schoolgirl Lesbians]] are attracted to him. And his {{spoiler|[[Even the Guys Want Him|ex-rival, Fate. Who's a man.]]}}

** ...and an older lady sort of likes him. And this doesn't stop on living or humans -- one of the three girls is a [[Cute Ghost Girl|ghost]]. Nekoyashiki began to muse aloud when {{spoiler|a ''homunculus''}} joined the ranks of female admirers.

** Luffy actually fits this trope pretty well, especially with {{spoiler|the Kuja Amazons being all over him.}} It's not surprising, seeing as how thanks to Alvida he's never been short of admirers for most of the series. You know you're a big time [[Chick Magnet]] when the two women who are considered the most beautiful in the world are head over heels in love with you.

** Alvida has all the men and women of '''R'''oguetown [[Squee|squeeing]] for her beauty, up the the point where the police can't attack her. But she only has eyes for Luffy.

* Jing from ''[[King of Bandit Jing]]'' is definitely a [[Chick Magnet]]. 99% of the time, when his adventure has something to do with a girl, she'll fall for him. There's also a reason why they call all the girls in the series "Jing Girls".

** He's even more of a [[Chick Magnet]] than even that - it's implied that a ''bunch'' of girls ([[Stupid Sexy Flanders|and guys]]) at school harbor crushes on him and find him incredibly good looking... the only thing is that his insane, violent behavior and unapproachability keeps them from daring to chase and pursue him.

* Ryan Choi, ''The All-New [[The Atom|Atom]]'', finds himself utterly baffled by the way the women of Ivy Town find him attractive -- including at least one supervillainess. He has to be reassured by [[Wonder Woman]] herself that there's nothing supernatural about it.

* Adonis of [[Greek Mythology]]. So handsome that two goddesses fell in love with him at first sight. Aphrodite took a shine to him when he was ''[[Squick|born]]'' and Persephone fell for him when he was about [[Shotacon|thirteen]]. It didn't end well for Adonis -- when he eventually chose [[First Girl Wins|Aphrodite]], [[If I Can't Have You|a furious Persephone told]] Aphrodite's former lover [[Complete Monster|Ares]] about Aphrodite's new beau. Ares turned into a boar and attacked Adonis while he was out hunting. Since Ares is a jerk, he killed Adonis by [[Groin Attack|goring him in the crotch]].

* Diarmid O'Dyna of [[Celtic Mythology]] (who was Lancer in the aforementioned [[Fate/Zero]]) had this as an actual magical ability -- any woman who looked at his face would instantly fall in love with him. One of these was a woman who caught sight of him at her own wedding party. Her husband-to-be [[Murder the Hypotenuse|didn't take it very well]].

* Many protagonists of [[RPG|RPGs]], in particular the ''[[Final Fantasy]]'' series, display this trope, with half of the female cast falling for them on sight. ''[[Final Fantasy IX]]'' plays with this by casting a childlike wannabe ladies' man as the ''protagonist''.

* Link isn't usually a [[Chick Magnet]] in the ''Zelda'' games, with his primary love interest ([[No Hugging, No Kissing|if that]]) being the eponymous princess, but in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time]]'', he had a good number of other possible love interests besides Zelda: Malon, farm girl at Lon Lon Ranch who was apparently created as an [[Expy]] of Marin from ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening|The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening]]''; Saria, who was Link's childhood friend and first major love interest, but who, in one of the game's sadder twists, [[Never Grew Up|couldn't grow up along with him because she's a Kokiri and Link was a Hylian]]; The Zora Princess Ruto, who Link had to agree to marry in exchange for the third major Spiritual Stone, and who freaked him out when she tried to hold him to that promise seven years later; and possibly Nabooru, though we never did get to find out what the "something good" was that she promised Link (though we do have our theories). There's [[Even the Guys Want Him|even a male character]] than unabashedly hits on him. The only major good-guy female character who ''didn't'' express some form of affection toward him was Impa (And maybe Zelda herself, but that's a whole other can of worms), who was mainly concerned about Zelda's welfare and was more of a mentor figure than anything else.

* Despite being a mecha [[Otaku]] with no knowledge on romance with women nor interest in them, Ryusei Date from ''[[Super Robot Wars]] OG'' has manage to make no less than three girls seriously fall for him. This is considerably more than most other characters with the exception of Masaki, who is himself a [[Chick Magnet]].

** The Shadow Broker's records in the latest download content suggests ''The Illusive Man'' is trying to be a bigger [[Chick Magnet]] than Shepard and Kelly put together.

* [[Fatal Fury|Rock Howard]] [[Raised by Dudes|spent most of his adolescence in the company of men]], thus explaining his easily-flustered nature around the opposite sex <ref>considering [[Abusive Parents|his]] [[Parental Abandonment|life]] after his mother's death/before Terry [[Happily Adopted|adopted him]], this is ''still'' the better alternative</ref>. While this doesn't affect him much in ''Garou: Mark of the Wolves'', he gets hit full force by this trope in ''[[The King of Fighters]]: [[Alternate Continuity|Maximum Impact]] 2''. He does so much as ''breathe'', and yet [[Elegant Gothic Lolita|Ninon]] [[Ojou|Beart]] [[Betty and Veronica|and]] [[Pirate Girl|Bonne]] [[The Tease|Jenet]] [[Love Triangle|all but throw themselves at him]] (hell, [[Lover Tug of War|they even fight over]] "custody" of Rock in their intro poses against one another). It doesn't help that he's pretty much [[Adorkable|a lovable dork]] in these scenes and [[Single Woman Seeks Good Man|a kindhearted young man by default]].

* From ''[[Funny Farm]]'', Flink's ability to turn women (and gay men) on is inexplicable, given that he's an [[Kavorka Man|anthropomorphic pig]]. Furthermore, he's not doing anything other than standing there and talking (or just standing), and most of the time doesn't think anything of the fact that they're hanging off him. He's [[The Fool]], but he also might be the first truly asexual [[Chick Magnet]].

* While any crushes in ''[[The Magic School Bus]]'' are only hinted at, geeky guy Arnold seems to get [[Ship Tease|Ship Teased]] with other female characters the most. There's been teasing between him and the following girls: Phoebe, Wanda, Dorothy Ann, and a one-shot character named Tiffany.

* A lot of princesses from ''[[Adventure Time]]'' have shown romantic interest in [[Chronic Hero Syndrome|Finn]]. Not very lucky for him, since he's [[The Last of His Kind]] and all of the girls are either dogs, elephants, slugs, cloud-like lumps, etc. The only [[Half-Human Hybrid|female]] ''he'' is genuinely interested in, [[All Love Is Unrequited|of course]], typically handwaves/doesn't notice any of the [[Freudian Slip|Freudian Slips]] Finn lets out about his attraction to her. His new romantic interest Flame Princess, at least ''seems'' to like him back, although in a [[Tsundere]]-like manner.

* Haruhi Fujioka from ''[[Ouran High School Host Club]]'' is probably one of the only heterosexual girls who's still a genuine [[Chick Magnet]], given her... [[Wholesome Crossdresser|unique circumstances]].

** Characters who have been attracted to or [[Ship Tease|Ship Teased]] with Fred or {{spoiler|Ilyria}}: Angel, Angelus, Wesley, Gunn, Spike, Knox, Connor, and [[Even the Girls Want Her|Willow]].

* Gwen from the ''[[Total Drama Island|Total Drama series]]'' -- she has three guys ([[Handsome Lech|Duncan,]] [[Nice Guy|Trent]] and [[Geek|Cody]]) who like her, and a couple more who have commented that she's good looking.
