Chuck Norris/Headscratchers

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Why does Chuck come off as a Villain Sue or Eldritch Abomination in a lot of them? I thought he was supposed to be an awesome force of GOOD.
    • It has to do with the Bill Brasky sketches that the original Vin Diesel list emulated.
  • Why are there liberals who hold Chuck Norris in high regard, yet who still attack conservative views? Norris is a writer for one of the most conservative news journals there is (He writes for World Net Daily, if you didn't know). They even hold him up as some sort of deity, and yet they don't respect those with similar views. Yes, I have come across these types of people. They seem to worship the ground Chuck Norris walks on, but know nothing about him, other than he's a martial artist and an action hero.
    • You may have answered your own question; it's probably simple ignorance, which liberals are every bit as capable of as everyone else. Then again, maybe Chuck's just such a badass that he transcends politics altogether.
      • Firstly, because as a martial artist he is just that badass.
      • Secondly, because (and I say this to give insight into the thinking not to offend) a liberal may well perceive his politics in the same light as his meme: as a joke, and a fairly old, tired one at that.
    • Maybe because they don't care about that? We (me included) don't care in the slightest that he's a conservative, that he's a good father, that he writes an article or book or things like that, we do only care about him an action hero who really is a high level black belt in more than one martial art, just like people don't care that Jackie Chan was an alcoholic and fall of the wagon with not that much booze, we just care that he doesn't use extras and that it's not special effects, he's actually jumping up those walls, getting attacked by real fire and fighting at that speed. We admire THAT part of him, not him as a whole. (P.S. I'm not a liberal or conservative, but to me the religion, race, sexual orientation or political view of anyone is gonna change badassery.)
      • Exactly. When people think of action stars (Whether they be Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, or Sylvester Stallone among others), they aren't interested in said star's personal lives or their views on politics and religion. They are interested in how badass they are. I may not agree with Norris's views, but I also know they have nothing to do with the meme he has become. Most people don't think of Chuck Norris as a conservative or whatnot. They think of him as some ridiculous Badass...or as Walker, Texas Ranger.
    • If liberals started attacking Chuck Norris for his political views and ignoring his martial arts abilities and movies, they would be equally damned.
    • It'd be funny as shit to watch, though.
    • Parroting (annoying) memes transcend ideologies.
