These things about Cristina Scuccia are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Her sudden departure from the convent in 2022 raised some eyebrows, with one source going so far as to say that Scuccia "blasphemed Our Lady" for leaving her vocation. Not that there weren't those who stood by her decision though.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Not everyone was on board with the idea of Scuccia covering "Like A Virgin" considering its initially innuedo-filled premise, as a number of bishops were shocked by a nun performing what was perceived as a bawdy song by a singer with a history of throwing the middle finger at the Vatican (Pope John Paul II previously denounced Madonna for the song "Like a Prayer", calling for Catholics to boycott her music), calling the cover a "reckless and calculated commercial operation." Scuccia defended her choice of song to cover, as she felt that it signified the “beauty of the transformation of life”, that the lyrics relate to her relationship with God and that she never intended to scandalise or shock anyone.
