• One of the side-quests from Dragon Quest VIII has the group send a wandering saber-toothed cat spirit on its way. When you run into the nearest group of people, one of them tells you that that particular cat used to be his. He latter thanks the group for helping his old friend! D'AWWWW!
• DQV is made of these. For instance, meeting Bianca again after all those years, the subsequent wedding scene and--prompting an actual Tear Jerker from this usually cynical troper--returning to your Doomed Hometown and finding it restored to life as if it had never changed.
• VIII has two endings, a good one and an even better one. Both are absolutely beautiful.
