Ducktales was the first time Nash's successor, Tony Anselmo, voiced Donald. Maybe the people at Disney weren't yet sure whether Anselmo could carry the role when ~~Ducktales~~ went into production, and thus minimized Donald's part in case Anselmo sounded "wrong"?
