A 2013 light novel.

Masamune Izumi is a 15-year old light novel writer that lives alone with his 12-year old step-sister Sagiri since their parents have died. Sagiri refuses to even come out out of her room and Masamune barely sees her.

One day, Masamune discover that the illustrator of his light novels, an anonymous artist known as Eromanga Sensei, makes live transmissions on his blog through the Internet. That's when Masamune discovers by looking at the background of the video that his partner that he never met was his step-sister all along!

Written by Tsukasa Fushimi. Art by Hiro Kanzaki. Published by ASCII Media Works.

Tropes used in Eromanga Sensei include:
  • Blatant Lies: By the time Sagiri negates she is Eromanga Sensei, it's already pretty obvious she is.
  • Dirty Kid:
    • Sugiri is 12 in the present and has been working along with Masamune since she was 10 and her illustrations are said to be pretty erotic.
    • Megumi is even worse; she tries to seduce Masamune at first and openly asks him about his penis.
  • Hikkikomori: Sugiri is one. By the time the story begins, she have been in this state for one year.
  • Mistaken For Gay: Megumi thinks Masamune is gay at first because she fails at seducing him.
  • Most Writers Are Writers: Yes, this is a light novel about a light novel author and a light novel artist.
  • Reclusive Artist: Sugiri has been one for a long time when the story begins.
