Forums: Index Trope Talk

It might be a science fiction/fantasy trope, it might be more general; I'm not sure. I'm looking for a trope for someone who acts as an intermediary or interpreter between two very different groups, who succeeds at his task because not because he partakes of both but because he is equally "abnormal" in terms of both. Does this sound familiar? While I know I haven't exactly Seen It a Million Times, I'm pretty sure I've seen it enough for three examples, so there's a chance for a trope existing already, I hope.
