God Loves, Man Kills/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Complete Monster: William Stryker, dear god. You know you're this whenever your group is dedicated to wiping out all mutants, children and adults alike.
  • Fridge Logic: At times it seems as if Stryker & Co. are the only ones on the scene who remember that Magneto is actually a criminal. (His first Heel Face Turn was still in progress at the time the graphic novel was released.) It's true that during the scene in Madison Square Garden Stryker represents a greater concern than does Mags, who is downed relatively quickly. Still, after Stryker is dealt with, it's a little surprising that no one even considers arresting a man whose last public act involved sinking a Soviet submarine that threatened his attempt to take over the world.
    • ... seriously? Magneto is one of the five most powerful superhumans in the entire world. For the love of fudge, SHIELD's official terminology for 'a situation where a single metahuman threatens the safety of the entire planet' is a Magneto Event. The only people there capable of so much as slowing him down are the X-Men... who are visibly on Magneto's side that day. So unless Thor & the Avengers happen to drop by, the police have exactly two options re: Magneto -- "do nothing" and "like it". And by the time the Stryker situation is over Mags is visibly back on his feet.
    • There's also that Madison Square Garden is currently packed full of about 30,000 innocent bystanders at that time. Unless Magneto's already about to attack the crowd -- which he not only isn't, but its actually Lampshaded in-dialogue by Senator Kelly that Magneto is visibly there only to talk, not to fight -- not even the Avengers would start swinging at him, because you don't start a major superfight in the middle of a crowd of civilians unless you have no other choice.
