General Fics

It's a Jungle Out There, by dust on the wind

• Recommended by Belphegor
• Synopsis: The authorities have said that all the animals that escaped from the zoo have been accounted for. Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
• Comments: A mostly light, often hilarious and excellently-written story, with a dry humour that shines in the narration as well as in dialogues. The author makes great use of the premise situation (zoo animals running amok in the woods) and derives a great deal of humour, but also dramatic tension and a few heartwarming moments.
• Tag(s): A follow-up to the episode Monkey Business; but knowledge of the episode is not required, as the author brings the reader up to speed on the events at the start of the story.

Red and Blue, by Crystal Rose of Pollux

• Recommended by Belphegor
• Synopsis: Red is the color of fire and drive. Blue is the color of water and the cold. A pre-series fic showing the genesis of the unlikely friendship between the two corporals who wore these colors so proudly.
• Comments: Simply put, how Newkirk and LeBeau became the Vitriolic Best Buds they are shown to be in the show. The author alternates between tension and humour, and writes very good banter between Englishman and Frenchman as they are forced to put their trust in each other and join forces. The epilogue is a small but definitely heart-warming moment.
• Tag(s): It's set in Autumn 1940, so none of the Americans appear in this story, and operations have (of course) not started yet.

Final Goodbye by "StudioPc"

• Recommended by Looney Toons
• Synopsis: It's the end of the war in Europe, and the Allies are shutting down both Stalag 13 and Hogan's operation there. Before it's all over, though, there's one last conversation between colonels.
• Comments: This short-short fic—less than 20 paragraphs long—brings a surprisingly serious, even bittersweet conclusion to a program stuck in the "eternal now" typical of late 60s-early 70s Sit Coms.
