Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade/Tear Jerker

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • The bit where it seems that Indy has gone over the cliff in the tank, and his father and friends are staring over the side of the cliff, stricken. And then Indy appears beside them, battered but alive, looking over the cliff in confusion to see what they're all looking at. And then -- the truly tear-jerking bit -- Indy's father embraces him in a bear hug for the first time ever and chokes out "I thought I'd lost you, boy!"
  • When Henry's shot by the Nazis and Indy falls to his knees, frantically trying to stem the bleeding, his hands trembling ... it's devastating to see that sarcastic bastard so shaken.
  • "Indiana, let it go."
  • The scene when Indy in disguise confronts Elsa in Berlin. She's already gone through a small Villainous Breakdown when witnessing the book burning, only to find a pissed off Indy, who she thought was dead, approach her violently demanding his father's diary back. Both are equally hurt for different reasons (Indy hurt by her betrayal and Elsa hurt by both what she had witnessed and seeing her former lover out for blood.). To make matters worse Indy was an inch away from strangling her to death, before leaving her.

Indy: Fraulein Doctor? WHERE IS IT!?
Elsa: How did you get here?
Indy: Where is it!? I want it!!
Elsa: You came back for the book? Why?
Indy: My father didn't want it incinerated.
Elsa: Is that what you think of me? I believe in the Grail, not the Swastika!!
Indy: Yet you stood up to be counted with the enemy of everything The Grail stands for. Who gives a DAMN WHAT YOU THINK!!!?
Elsa: YOU DO!!!
Indy: All I have to do is squeeze.
Elsa: All I have to do is scream.
