"The ultimate acting is to destroy yourself." |
Klaus Kinski (1926-1991) was a German actor well known for his work with director Werner Herzog in such films as Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Woyzeck, and the remake of Nosferatu, along with countless other roles, including playing villains in several Spaghetti Westerns. He is also noted for his less than stable personality. He was respected as a prolific and capable actor, but had a reputation for being extremely difficult to work with [1] . Herzog recalls his interesting relationship with the man in the 1999 documentary My Best Fiend (the original German title is Mein liebster Feind - Klaus Kinski: literally My Dearest Enemy - Klaus Kinski). Kinski is the father of actresses Natassja Kinski (Cat People, Tess) and Pola Kinski.
