Luigi's Mansion 3/YMMV

Awesome Bosses: Monty has quickly become the favorite Boss, even though the player doesn't have to fight him. The player goes through the puzzle-like Level in Boss Clothing, through various movie sets (including a Shout Out to The Ring), finally ending in a Kaiju battle with a ghost dressed as Godzilla on a soundstage. It's loads of fun.
- Later on, you get to face Hellen Gravely herself. And then King Boo...which eventually becomes a Time Limit Boss.
Breather Boss: Johnny Deepend is lacking in HP for a boss so high up in the hotel. You still need to work with Gooigi to give Luigi an opportunity to strike, however.
Nightmare Fuel: If you get a game over, you'll see that not only has Luigi been captured, everyone is trapped in paintings as well. Yes, even if you managed to rescue one of more of the Toads, they'll all be captured again. And there's no hint that King Boo will be letting them go anytime soon.
- When Luigi goes to the first floor after he discovers the sinister truth about the Last Resort, he also discovers that the Goobs have barricaded the front door to prevent his escape. Granted, he probably wasn't planning to leave the hotel anytime soon considering that he already knew that his friends had been captured by King Boo, but it's still scary how prepared the Goobs are.
- The Polterkitty. While at first she looks cute (though it's still mean-spirited, as opposed to the friendly Polterpup who is as benevolent as he looks), once Luigi shines his flashlight on her, she immediately transforms and looks more like a panther than a kitten. Granted, it's not as scary when she does it one more, but it's still shocking the first time.
- While not as scary as King Boo, Hellen Gravely is also scary in her own right. When she first appears, she's cheerful as can be. But as Luigi continues to capture more and more of her staff and rescue the hostages that King Boo trapped in paintings, she grows increasingly angry, to the point that her staff start becoming afraid of her. When Luigi confronts her in her office, the player gets to see exactly how pretty she looks without her makeup on. At that point, she's angry enough that she decides to deliver Luigi to King Boo herself. She then fights Luigi and...well, let's just say there's a reason why she's in charge of the hotel.
- When King Boo chooses to fight Luigi after Hellen Gravely's failure to capture him, he {{spoiler: decides that he's going to swallow up the entire Last Resort.|| Fortunately, Polterpup rescues him after the hotel collapses.
Nightmare Retardant: In one part of the film studio scenario, Luigi is confronted by a Stringy-Haired Ghost Girl in a well, a Shout Out to Sadako Yamamura from The Ring. However, her scare value is diminished greatly by the rubber ducky on her head.
That One Boss: Grem can be this, depending on how well you can use the rubber ducky. It's entirely possible to use Gooigi to make capturing him easier, however, since when he gets hit by a mine he gets knocked out from the water.
- The Polterkitty can be annoying as well, though one can take advantage of the fact that she only targets Luigi by using Gooigi. The player still needs to have good timing in order to make the Polterkitty vulnerable to the Poltergust, however.
That One Level: Boilerworks (B2), though it largely depends on how well you can control the ducky tube, much like the boss itself.
They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Mario and Peach get about 5 minutes of screen time between them here. Sure, it's not their game, but they could have at least done something other than wait to be rescued. Mario shows where Luigi can find Peach, but that's about it.
