Mabaka - Magic is for Idiots!/Recap/S1/C2 Roommates

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

1-2 Roommates

"Hey, if there's ever a way, you wanna go on a date with me?"

Akemi guides Rokuro to his temporary room with no prompts of discussion from either of them. Rokuro is busy taking in his surroundings, and Akemi is inwardly realizing that she knows little to nothing about the boy she had just agreed to house for a full year. Evidently, this goes both ways as Rokuro mistakes her large house as a sign of wealth. Akemi quickly douses any thoughts of that as they reach his room. They have a little disagreement over how to address each other properly (Rokuro's reluctance at using her first name so casually, even though she's fine with it) before Akemi takes her leave.

As Akemi goes to change and he settles in, Rokuro thinks it a good idea to try and contact his best friend Hideki to let him know about what happened. The blonde is none too thrilled about the situation, even less than Rokuro himself. The two banter back and forth for a while before Akemi comes back, tired of hearing their yelling from the second floor.

Rokuro introduces the two, whom are quite wary of each other. Hideki stupidly asks why there's a human there, and then inquires as to whether or not Rokuro has decided to erase her memories. While Akemi is rightly angered by such a suggestion, Rokuro reassures her that he has no intention of doing so - And that, even if he had the ability to do so, he still wouldn't. Hideki seems to accept this well enough before we're shown what his real thought pattern is like.

Hideki: "Now that I get a good look at you, you're pretty hot!"
Akemi: "Excuse me?"
Rokuro: "Oi... Girls back home don't even like when you talk to them like that..."

Some more bantering and perverted comments later, Rokuro breaks off the connection to Mahokkai. He calmly explains to a distressed Akemi that his friend is nothing short of a complete nerd who has false hopes placed in his ability to get women, then tells her to feel complimented as Hideki only hits on cute girls. Akemi is slightly amused by this, but tells Rokuro that if he ever talks to Hideki again he should warn her to stay away from his room beforehand. Rokuro agrees to this, then asks if they can eat lunch.

  • Honorifics: Rokuro has some trouble figuring out what to call his hostess...
  • Megaton Punch: Akemi wishes she was allowed to do this through holograms. Rokuro shares her sentiment.
