* Richard King of King Ranch. He was one of the premier [[Cattle Baron]]s in Texas (where else) and ruled the place as what amounted to a "kingdom". He first crewed it from a Mexican village that was dying of thirst and thus perfectly willing to move to his spread and set up as a company town. As he was a better boss than most local Hildagos they worked hard for him and even fought for him. In fact not only was there no esoteric genealogical reason for such a claim (and of course the claim to the Dukedom of Normandy and even the Throne of France was arguably more plausible) but there were few times up to the beginning of the Eighteenth Century when England could dream of maintaining such a claim by force of arms. And in the Eighteenth century England stopped caring about the flag-dipping (though it certainly cared about actual control) but the Channel [[Fridge Logic|retained it's name.]]
