  • Magnum Opus: Whenever the Band appears in conversation, either this album or Siamese Dream named their best.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: One can interpret the lyrics of certain songs ('X.Y.U.', 'Bodies', 'Fuck You') to be about Billy's marriage to his wife Chris, whom he divorced near the end of the tour for this album.
  • Wangst: A common complaint about the lyrics.
  • X Meets Y: The Wall meets The White Album
    • Billy Corgan original called the album "The Wall for Generation X", but later redacted that statement and thought it was more like The White Album. link
