  • Synopsis:: Hatsumomo's life story, and about what she had to do to claim her birthright as the illegitimate daughter of a geisha, and how far she would go to be number one.
  • Comments: This provides interesting insight into Hatsumomo without falling into Draco in Leather Pants territory. Hatsumomo is not portrayed as a misunderstood person, she admits her ruthlessness and determination...and her mistakes. This also gives more detail to things only mentioned in Memoirs of a Geisha, such as Hatsumomo's first younger sisters, how she drove her own sister out of Gion, her danna, Hatsumomo's mizuage, why the mistress of her teahouse prevented her from taking another danna, the beginnings of her rivalry with Mameha, how Korin became her ally, what started her downward spiral, and what happened after she was chased out of Gion. The fanfic was recently completed, but the author has hinted at the possibility of a sequel.
