  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: His comeback to Basketball in 1995. His return game against the Indiana Pacers had the highest Nielsen rating of any televised regular season NBA game in 20 years.
    • This is about as close to defying YMMV as it gets. How much did the fans rejoice? Well during the final minutes of a game against the Knicks where scores were tied and Jordan had over 50 points, hockey commentators were so wrapped up in the game, they completely ignored the start of the match they were meant to be calling.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Missing most of his second season with a broken foot, Jordan scored 63 points in Game 2 of their 1985 playoff series against the Boston Celtics.

"I think it's just God disguised as Michael Jordan." Larry Bird.

    • The 1987 Slam Dunk finals against Dominique Wilkins.
    • The Shot in Cleveland with Craig Ehlo's hand in his face.
    • His first Finals series against Magic Johnson's Lakers, where he pulls off "a SPEC-tacular move", according to the now-legendary outburst by commentator Marv Albert.
    • His second Finals series against the Portland Trailblazers--who infamously passed him over to draft Sam Bowie because they wanted a center and already had a Hall of Fame shooting guard in Clyde Drexler--where he sinks 35 points in the first half of Game 1 (including 6 three pointers, a record). Jordan reacts after draining his sixth trey by shrugging.

"This is the greatest performance, maybe ever, in the history of this game."

    • His third Finals series against Charles Barkley's Phoenix Suns, where he averages 41 points a game.
    • The "I'm Back" game. In his third game back from retirement, Jordan scored 55 points against the New York Knicks.
    • The Flu Game. The day before Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, Jordan awoke with a stomach virus or food poisoning and the Bulls team doctor said that there was no way he could play the next day. Jordan did play and scored 38 points, along with grabbing 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals as he led the Bulls to victory. Also doubles as a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming as he collapsed into Scottie Pippen's arms at the end of the game with Pippen helping him off the court.
      • Particularly noteworthy is that Jordan put up double the #'s that Karl Malone, the 1997 regular season MVP, did in the same game.
    • His final basket as a Chicago Bull: in Game 6 in Utah, Jordan is 35 years old and, with Pippen limited by an ailing back, is almost single-handedly battling the Utah Jazz to a standstill. In the final minutes, there's the steal from Hall of Famer Karl Malone, the push off, the game winning shot, the photo of what seems to be all of Salt Lake City realizing the death of their championship dreams.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: When the Bulls won the 1996 NBA Finals, the first without his father, Jordan sank to the floor of the locker room, with the championship trophy in hand, crying, mourning the fact that his father was not there to celebrate with him
  • Epileptic Trees: Jordan's 1993 retirement. More than a decade after the fact, some people still believe that this was actually a strategic move designed to divert attention from his on-going gambling investigation and allow the NBA to avoid having to hand a huge suspension down to its highest profile player. Although Jordan claimed that his Showy Invincible Hero status and the recent murder of his father made him realize that there was more to life than basketball, his choice of language during the press conference, disastrous minor league baseball career and quick return to the NBA only fueled speculation that these were not the true reasons behind his exit. Serious tin-hats alleged that Jordan's dealings in the gambling community were responsible for his father's murder.
  • Memetic Badass: Among his nicknames include Air, His Airness, the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time.)
