Mortasheen/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: This game is all over this trope. Take it from me- Even I'm not sure ARE is evil, and Mortasheen is good. It seems less clear cut than that.
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: After years of waiting for an actual game, This happened; Mortasheen: The Tabletop RPG.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: During the test games, the party was charged with clearing out the monsters inside one of Laverne's factories. They received "tags" to use to record how many monsters they'd killed, and the team with the most kills was paid the best. The Engineer of the party dropped a rickety walkway onto an opposing group of Vigilantes, in order to steal the tags they themselves had acquired. Which was part of Laverne's plot- she was looking for new, semi-permanent hire Vigilantes, and wanted someone willing to get a little dirty.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Even Mortasheen has these, in odd ways. The fact that Doomboros completely freak out when someone hurts a beloved master, going from cringing fear to utter berserker rage, is one such example; normally the Doomboros is terrified of everything, but as soon as that beloved master is hurt? It's asskicking time!
    • Also, Laverne and Funkle. Laverne is a giant maggot-woman, Funkle is a guy trying to turn himself into a sentient disease who currently looks like a fleshy tumor; and they are totally, hopelessly in love, which is both very sweet and incredibly Squick.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: The very existence of cannibal penguins in the North, as explained in the Wendiguin's biography.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: YMMV, but it's unlikely you won't find one that scares you.
  • That One Boss: One of my stated goals is to make some of the big fights this. Have fun with frustration! The Destroyers in general- and Mothneaser in particular- are this.
  • Ugly Cute: Quite a few monsters, actually.
