They were one of the more enduring and influential bands of the 1980s, and until its bankruptcy, one of the flagship bands for Tony Wilson's Factory Records label. They were among the first bands to be branded with the genre of "Alternative Rock" and were wildly influential on later bands of the genre's pre-Nirvana days. |
