  • Angst? What Angst?: Kirimaru's parents were killed in a war, but except for one occasion, he was never shown to be grieving about it
    • The series in general is set in Japan during the time when there were wars between castles and villages. Despite this, the tone of the series is cheerful, and none of the characters are taking the wars (too) seriously.
  • Ho Yay: based on the surprisingly large Japanese fandom, the 5th grade nins Fuwa Raizou and Hachiya Saburou seem to be closer than friends...
