- Manga Adaptation: Yosuke Katayama written a manga based on the game, called "Nioh: The Golden Samurai (Nioh:Kin'iro no Samurai)". It's serialize in the Weekly Shonen Magazine in May 2016.
- Spiritual Successor: Nioh was based off of both Dark Souls and Ninja Gaiden series, one of Koei's own game franchises.
