Basic Trope: Futuristic/Sci-fi civilization is opposed to Transhumanism

  • Played Straight: a Sci-fi Civilization only uses technologies like Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering in the event like Life-threatening injuries
  • Exaggerated: a purely Atheistic, scientific, and rationalistic high-tech Normal Human Civilization is opposed toward every single methods of getting Superhuman Powers that aren't wearing powered armor(other than ones that requires it's user to be Augmented of course), no matter how scientific the sound of the method in question
  • Downplayed: a Futuristic Sci-fi Civilization is also uses technology like Genetic Engineering and Cybernetics for Supersoldiers(albeit in lesser degree than saving lives in case of life-threatening injuries)
  • Justified: Cybernetics eats your Soul(in case of replacing body parts with mechanical substitutes)
  • Inverted: a (Largely) Low-tech Civilization only uses more advanced Technologies for enhancing Human Body/mind
  • Subverted: ???

  • Averted: Super Soldier
