Outsourced (TV series)/YMMV
- Adaptation Displacement: The movie is not well known, and NBC's marketing for the show ignores its existence.
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Todd is a smarmy, self-centered dick who talks and talks about how tolerant and open-minded he is, but makes no real effort to be so.
- Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch: Some for reasons mentioned in the intro to the article. For some others, people readied their pitch forks and declared it racist before even seeing the first episode.
- After a few episodes, a new narrative on the show's handling of India is emerging.
- There is also the really weird notion that making a show based on the premise of outsourcing is the same thing as brainwashing the clueless masses into wanting their jobs outsourced. Clearly outsourcing would go away if only TV pretended it didn't exist! On the Internet, the people who think the show is insensitive to those who have lost their jobs and the people who think the show is racist hilariously clash over which is the "right" reason to hate the show.
- Crosses the Line Twice: In the "Training Day" Opening, everyone is on the phone recalling a ghost costume that accidentally has a pointed top, making it look like KKK robes, Gupta is on with a "Exalted Wizard" and he will only buy them if they are fire retardant, after Rajiv checks the tag, Todd tells Gupta to make the sale.
- They aren't
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Rajiv and Madhuri are pretty well-liked, even by some (but by no means all) people who hate the actual show. Despite being a money-grubbing stuffed shirt, Rajiv at times actually manages to seem more sympathetic than our hero Todd, though this may say more about Todd. And Madhuri is just so gosh darn nice while showing signs of some Hidden Depths.
- Hollywood Homely: This is the ugly chick on this show?
- Her Shrinking Violet tendencies are what prevent her from being socially active; nobody's tried to make the case that she's unattractive (except probably Rajiv)
- Moment of Awesome: After Charlie and Gupta, in typical bumbling fashion, lose the horse Rajiv is supposed to ride into his wedding, what do they do? They go and get an elephant.
- The Scrappy: Gupta. The show is just so determined to make him the "funny" character, but for many he just ends up as an Ethnic Scrappy. Also, to a lesser degree, Todd for being so clueless about India. Watch as Todd does something culturally insensitive. Oh, he's well-intentioned, but anyone with half a brain should be able to predict the culture-clash hijinks that will result. And this is supposed to be the guy we're relating to!
