PopCap Games is an American game design company, specializing in the Casual Video Game market. Traditionally, their releases may be played online or downloaded in enhanced versions for a trial, with the full version unlocked through the payment of a fee. Their games tend to be characterized by lush two-dimensional graphics, one-click mouse control, electronically produced music and easy hardware requirements.
And their addictive properties. Especially to those who don't usually play computer games.
Their first major successful game was 2001's Bejeweled, perhaps the best known examples of the Match Three Game genre, and one of the first and best-known games to majorly capitalize on online distribution and sales.
In mid-2011, the company has been purchased by Electronic Arts. Shortly before the acquisition by EA, Pop Cap launched the 4th & Battery label, in which they intend to launch experimental games on. So far, the label has 3 games under it's umbrella.
