Carietta "Carrie" N. White is a [[Shrinking Violet|shy]], [[Loners Are Freaks|lonely]] teenage girl who is [[The Woobie|frequently bullied and abused]] by both her classmates and by her [[The Fundamentalist|fundamentalist Christian]] [[My Beloved Smother|mother]] Margaret. Her life seems to be getting better once the attractive, kind-hearted athlete Tommy asks her to the prom, but then [[It Got Worse|it goes right back into hell]], [[Roaring Rampage of Revenge|and then some]]. She possesses the ability to [[Mind Over Matter|manipulate objects with only her thoughts]], which makes angering her... [[Too Dumb to Live|not advisable]].
