"Get Out of Jail Free" Card: Difference between revisions

Line 93:
{{quote|'''The First''': Really? Why? So you can earn a spot on her little pep squad? You think she'll ever let you in? You're a murderer.
'''Andrew''': Confidentially, a lot of her people are murderers. Uh, Anya and Willow and Spike.... }}
** In fact, every Scooby except for Dawn and Tara have wrongfully killed human beings. Before you state that Buffy isn't, we all know that legally (and truthfully) Buffy was as guilty for the Deputy Mayor's death as Faith was. She threw him to the ground to be killed. She and Faith would both get manslaughter charges in a court. Buffy then attempted to murder Faith herself later in the season. Giles killedis Benguilty andof perhapsat least one othersmanslaughter back when he was Ripper (their friend who died in the Egyhon incident) and vigilante-executed Ben in cold blood, Willow killedmurdered Warren and committed 6 billion counts of attempted murder and one of attempted suicide, Faith killed multiple people, Spike and Angel were two of the most infamous mass murderers in human history, Anya was a Vengeance Demon for 1000 years, and Xander washas responsiblemultiple formanslaughter counts against him from the casualties resulting from summoning the musical demon. Basically, being part of the Scoobies and then shunning someone for having killed is hypocritical.
*** Amusingly, Spike and Angel are actually the only people on the above list with a valid defense; diminished capacity. The bulk of their atrocities were committed while soulless, which by the setting rules is effectively another personality walking around in your body while you're helpless to stop it.
* ''[[Angel]]'' strikingly, and given the context of the series rather bravely, decisively rejects the idea that simply because someone turns good they should get a karmic reward. Faith of course literally does go to jail (for a while at least) and in a later season Angel and Spike admit to themselves they probably are ''still'' going to hell for their past misdeeds.
