There are two principal methods for transcribing Japanese names into Latin letters: the [[wikipedia:Hepburn romanization|Hepburn System]], which is more common in the West because it yields something closer to English phonetic, and the [[wikipedia:Kunrei-shiki romanization|Kunrei-shiki System]], which is the official romanization method in Japan, even if it's not used much. In general, [[Word of God|ZUN]] favored the Hepburn System before ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View'', but changed to the Kunrei-shiki System afterward. This page uses the Hepburn format for the sake of [[Spell My Name with an "S"|argument]], as it is the most widely recognized and makes the pronunciation obvious to English speakers.
