Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

These things about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Better on DVD: Some prefer watching the film on a smaller screen with the art style being easier to handle and an extended cut, too.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Peni, for being an anime-inspired super-hero, and for the less than wholesome reasons you probably expect from she being an anime-inspired petite flat-chested girl with a miniskirt. Fanart from the SFW and NSFW kinds flowed like a river, to the point somebody could think she is much more important than she actually is.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • From the title, "X in the Xverse", basically a way of referring to any story where a certain character and multiple AUs versions of him interact as main plot.
    • Using the Prowler's theme on montages of characters going through extreme emotional distress, either for comedic or dramatic effect depending on how stressful the events portrayed really are.
  • Older Than They Think: The plot involving a character interacting with multiple AUs versions of him is way older than even the original comic book storyline that inspired this movie (Alan Moore's Supreme comes to mind, and any Crisis Crossover featuring three or more AUs may count) but was this movie which made the concept mainstream.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Stan Lee, who gives Miles a Spider-Man costume.
  • Signature Scene: Miles' Leap of Faith.
  • Signature Song: "Sunflower" and "What's Up Danger".
  • Win Back the Crowd: Sony Pictures Animation redeemed themselves with this film as an apology for The Emoji Movie.
