- Genius Bonus: apparently, the MAGI's operating system is a hybrid of Windows and Linux.
- The author happens to study computer programming and is not above putting in some jargon here and there.
- Mary Sue: subverted with Kaworu. While at first he appears to score pretty high on a Mary Sue litmus test, it's quickly revealed that he has his own problems. His Leeroy Jenkins tendencies and Chaotic Good alignment are in no way portrayed in a positive light.
