Sure, there were gags in cartoons before Tex, if you are particularly tickled by a fox in blackface being smacked on the ass by stuff; but it was Tex's arrival at Warner Bros., and his hand-picked staff of animators and directors, that defined what we now call The Golden Age of Animation. |
