That's My Boy (2012 film)/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

These things about That's My Boy (2012 film) are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: It's a comedy film about parental neglect and statutory rape.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The jokes are so offensive that they could be hilarious. One thing is our protagonist getting it on with a teacher being treated as a victory; another thing is a school auditorium, even teenage girls, loudly cheering on him for scoring with the teacher; it's surreal, and then the American media glorifies his skinny figure as a symbol of alpha masculinity.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse:
    • Vanilla Ice.
    • Jimmy because he's essentially Rex Ryan if he was a New England Patriots fan.
  • Older Than You Think: Donny originated from the 1999 audio sketch "The Psychotic Legend of Uncle Donnie".
  • The Scrappy: Donny for neglecting his own son.
  • So Bad It's Good: The film has become a guilty pleasure among Sandler fans.
  • Squick: The main reason of why the movie was even more lambasted than Sandler's previous flicks. Comedies like South Park can get avoid criticism of raunchy material like this because they're cartoons, and so no minor is harmed in the making those jokes. Justin Weaver otherwise was fifteen during filming, so some people saw it as bordering on illegal pornography.
