Samuel the Lamanite went to see baby Jesus

Samuel the Lamanite got Put on a Bus as soon as he delivered his message to Zarahemla. No surprise, he was a Lamanite who only went there to preach, it was a tough crowd, so he went home. The book mostly focussed on Nephites, and whoever was keeping the records wouldn't have known where he lived or checked where he went. Right?

Well, he was last mentioned 5 years before Jesus Christ's birth. That's enough time to procure a boat, sail halfway round the world and work his way to Bethlehem, where he could quietly pose as a shepherd/wise man/nondescript neighbour and get a really good view of events. That kind of voyage was pretty dangerous in those days, but he might have got help from above - there is a precedent earlier in the book, and he's, you know, a prophet (not a Time Lord). Plus, he'd just been telling the people when and where Jesus would be born so he at least knew where he was trying to get to.
