For the Books:

For the Film:

  • Executive Meddling: Director David L. Cunningham, who hated the finished product, claims that this is a large reason why the movie turned out so utterly different from the book.
  • What Could Have Been: Prior to 2005, the rights to do a film of the book were held by The Jim Henson Company and Andrew Klavan was attached as the screenwriter. Whether this would have resulted in a better film is anyone's guess.
