The Mummy (1999 film)/Nightmare Fuel

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Imhotep, the titular mummy, slowly pulls himself together by using various parts of living people. A special mention goes to the one man he stole a tongue and eyes from.
  • The flesh-eating scarabs are always good for a grisly scene or two - viewers are introduced to them when a gold scarab suddenly comes alive and kills a man by tunnelling through his flesh.
    • They always come in swarms and once they get you, they overpower and cover you... And there's nothing left when they're done.
    • One such scarab crawls through a hole out of Imhotep's neck, back through the hole in his cheek, and then he bites down with a crunch.
  • Beni's eventual fate. Trapped in a dungeon that's just been permanently sealed under the desert, with only a single torch to keep you safe from the flesh-eating scarabs which gathering around you, and you have to sit there and watch while they surround you as the torch slowly... flickers... out.
