These things about The Tale of the Princess Kaguya are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Accidental Aesop: With how much messages the film tackles, there's bound to be a couple of unintended interpretations. Some of these include Do not run away because there will be consequences and Nature can be absolutely brutal and unforgiving.
  • Anvilicious: Many an Aesop in the film are communicated with subtlety, such as messages about wealth and royalty. However, its messages about environmentalism and Arcadia are conveyed with about as much subtlety as a tactical nuke. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the film refrains from outright annoying the audience with poorly written dialogue about how "nature must be saved", and this message is used to convey a sense of peace and the motives of the main character.
  • Awesome Art: It's clear that the animators and background artists put a lot of effort into the film, and it's easy to tell that they gave it their all in the shots of the nature and environment. The film is littered with many details such as animals moving around and realistic rain which almost every other studio apart from Ghibli leave out to save on budget.
  • Awesome Music: Well, it's a Studio Ghibli production with Joe Hisaishi, so were anyone surprised? Half the soundtrack is filled with awesome songs, although many of them are quiet and slow paced. Tracks such as When I Remember This life (end credits) and The Procession of Celestial Beings, however, are especially amazing.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Given Ghibli's global prominence before shutting down their animation department, it's safe to say that the film has found many fans in countries all around the world.
  • Signature Scene: The scene where Princess Kaguya runs away from the capital, notable for its powerful emotions, creative usage of animation, and rough outlines. It's a perfect way of communicating exactly how a character feels without being Anvilicious or having everyone explain their motivations out loud, hence its memorability. To a lesser extent, the scene of Princess Kaguya playing under the cherry blossoms and flying away with Sutemaru also quality.
