When everyone died, everyone was united in death!
Patrick really came through as a friend for SpongeBob in this episode. He's able to discern what the problem is and relate to SpongeBob with this tale. It may not be the happy-go-lucky story that SpongeBob wanted to hear, but it's the story he needs to hear.
- And in that way, it did help at all.
After the events of the tale, there were still living people, so the Barnacle obviously Did something do bring everyone back to life - perhaps altered his appearance so that his presence brought everything full of life?
