  • Family-Unfriendly Aesop -- The Aesop of "The Circle Line" seems to be "cops deserve extra slack, even if they might have committed a major felony."
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap -- Alvarez. Started off as especially annoying, setup as a complete and unrepentant jerkass, but grown as a character in subsequent episodes, almost to the point of Ensemble Darkhorse.
  • Too Good to Last -- YMMV, but cancelled after 10 episodes, just as the show was finding it's feet, the characters were starting to settle, and they had ended the not so great arc involving Cole's old partner.
