 * The plot doesn't need an [[No Antagonist|actual villain]] to have this trope -- the trope is really about protagonist doom rather than villain victory.  I'm going to throw out the movie [[All Is Lost]] as an example of this, which is entirely man vs. nature.
 * Eucatastrophe is the actual word for this trope, as wikipedia [[wikipedia:Eucatastrophe|will attest]].
