Because Fast Eddie and his cronies did not like criticism and were obsessed with counterfeiting unanimous agreement with all their policies, decisions and whims. The jury's still out on Drewski, but he hasn't yet gotten rid of people like Fighteer, responsible for his share of the Stalinizing as well as the illegal copyright grab which was only reversed a week ago.
Illegal copyright grab? Please explain, as i'm not familiar with TVT enough.
Short version goes like this: In July 2012, Fast Eddie changed the site license of TVT from CC BY SA to CC BY NC SA, which is illegal, since the SA (Share Alike) clause specifically prevents this, and you aren't supposed to make those changes without community consent and proper legal procedure (like when the WMF and Richard Stallman worked out a dual license agreement for Wikipedia).
In November 2013, he added another further violation of Creative Commons, claiming authors surrender their edits to TV Tropes and could not re-release them elsewhere without TV Tropes consent, which we recently got struck down as legal BS.
We plan to challenge the CC BY NC SA change as well and get the license reverted back to CC BY SA, as that meant anyone who submitted anything to the site prior to July 2012 had their work licensed under terms they did not consent to nor was that change made legally, and while we expect this process to take longer for undoing this, we hope to work with Drew peacefully and civilly to fix these matters Fast Eddie changed without regard for ethics or proper legal procedure.
Correction, Geth -- fighteer made the copyright grab. In this thread at the TVT forums, you can see the point where Fighteer gets his pretend lawyer hat out of the toybox and decides that just saying you own someone's copyrights makes it so:
