I was thinking we should define "drug". "A drug, in the broadest term, is a chemical substance that, when ingested, has a high biological response to quantity ratio compared to regular foods". I was thinking, for the purposes of this trope, only psychoactive drugs count. For example, if someone is on advil, it doesn't count.

Maybe drugs that are more or less only stimulants (e.g. coffee) should not count.
My rewrite explicitly invokes "mind-altering substances" stronger than caffeine, which should leave out Advil (but probably not NyQuil <grin>).
