This Atlanta-based independent UHF channel began as WTCG, then changed its call sign to WTBS as its U.S. cable coverage increased. Originally a Struggling Broadcaster, WTBS turned the corner by obtaining regional distribution using intercity microwave links and eventually national distribution as a C-band satellite "superstation". Now known as TBS, and separate from the Atlanta station (now known as WPCH, "Peachtree TV", which split in 2007 to allow TBS to carry Major League Baseball games involving teams other than the Braves) it and the other Turner properties were acquired by Time Warner. And yes, everything's changed hands a few times since then.
