Within the first few weeks however, the game's popularity spread through a strong advertising campaign and word of mouth amongst casual players. By the end of the year, over 700,000 units were sold. It gets better. By late 2010, Just Dance was the best selling Wii game not made by Nintendo or featuring a Nintendo mascot. Its sequel sold 2 million units in just over 2 months. In short, the franchise's popularity expanded nearly 1,000 times after the initial release.
