A trend in Web Original series. The series is presented as a video Blog (vlog) by a fictional character existing within the series, or as the vlogs of several characters. A subtrope of Character Blog.

The Vlog Series comes in two flavours: the more-or-less realistic variety, which is filmed using webcams and presented as entirely in-universe, as though it is really happening; and the traditional camera variety, which alternates between webcams and more conventional TV camera styles.

Comics

• Marvel Comics did one of these (in which a teenage girl suspected that her brother had been replaced by an alien) as a viral publicity for their Crisis Crossover Secret Invasion.

Live Action Television

• Irish tv series Dan and Becs and its sequel series Sarah and Steve were both shot in the form of first person diaries, cutting between their different tellings of the same events. It's never quite made clear whether or not they post the diaries on-line.

Web Video

• Lonelygirl 15, which popularised this style.
• Kate Modern
• LG 15 The Resistance, purportedly, although it makes frequent use of what appears to be traditional camera footage.

• zeFrank did the show for a year, predating Lonely Girl 15 by about 3 months.
• I'm a Marvel And Im ADC has the sub-series "Goblin Blogging", which is presented as the Green Goblin's video blog.
• Marble Hornets, sort of. The idea of the series is that J is uploading footage from a bunch of tapes a friend gave him before disappearing, though eventually he starts shooting his own footage. Unlike other Vlog Series, he never actually talks to the camera - almost all exposition is done through white text on black background before and after the video.
