- Adored by the Network: Hoo boy... GMA Network in the Philippines loves the show so much, they hyped it to death during what they termed as its "second coming" in 1999 when they had re-runs of it at the time, years after the show was shelved reportedly due to excessive portrayal of violence. In June 1999 GMA's film subsidiary released a Compilation Movie entitled Voltes V The Movie: The Liberation comprising of the last five episodes from the show re-edited for a theatrical release. GMA later went on to produce a Live Action Adaptation in close association with Telesuccess Productions, Toei's Philippine licensee.
- Banned in the Philippines: The show's initial run in the Philippines became infamous for this when the last few episodes were left unaired due to a decree by the Marcos dictatorship banning Voltes V and other giant mecha anime, officially over parental concerns with cartoon violence; popular speculation was that the ban had more to do with the regime's objections to the anime's revolutionary undertones, i.e. the rebellion against a tyrannical regime. Some of those who were understandably angered by the series' sudden cancellation later went on to protest in the People Power Revolution in 1986; the ban would later inspire a series of art installations inspired by both the Marcos regime and the Robot Romance Trilogy anime which Marcos banned.
