Warcraft/Characters/The First Ones

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

The First Ones are godlike figures introduced in the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion pack. People know very little about them, but the Brokers and Attendants reference them. Their story will be explained in the Shadowlands expansion.

First Ones as a Whole

  • All Your Powers Combined: The fact that they can work with multiple higher powers as seen with Elune cleansing her Tear and Ysera's soul (Life) of the energies of the Emerald Nightmare (Void), along with said Tear unlocking Xe'ra's core (Light) shows the First Ones have more power than the six fundamental forces in the Warcraft universe
  • Our Gods Are Greater: Whatever they are, they outrank the titans, the Old Gods and the naaru in authority and power.
  • Recursive Precursors: They predate other ancient god-like beings including the Naaru and the titans.
  • Time Abyss: See Recursive Precursors above. They also made the Arbiter and the Attendants.

Named First Ones

Elune

A description of the character goes here.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:
  • Arc Welding: Elune has existed in the setting since Warcraft III. Lore for the game called her "Azeroth's only true deity" at the same time Wild Gods and the Titans were introduced to the setting. Since then little has been fleshed out about her nature until Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands.
  • Big Good
  • Divine Intervention: Despite having little lore about her, Elune is an active deity. During the War of the Ancients, she protected Tyrande during her time as Azshara's captive and intervened several other times throughout history. After Ysera's death in Val'sharah, Elune manifests to purify the dying Ysera of the nightmare corruption so she dies pure and ascends her spirit to the sky and a constellation marks her passing, later allows her spirit to strike back against Xavius and then sending her to Ardenweald. Elune also cleanses the Tear of Elune of nightmare corruption as well, something considered impossible otherwise due to how deep it ran.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Shadow priests can try Xal'Atath's suggestion of stealing some of Elune's power from her temple on the Broken Isles. Elune herself strikes down the player in response, making one of the few times we see her decisively act with the mortal world.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Firmly benevolent and on the side of good, but lets her followers use violence, and accept blood sacrifices of her enemies. She can also empower someone to become the Night Warrior, but so far the power grows to the point it eventually kills the wielder.
  • Lunacy: Being a moon goddess, this is a given. She's the one who gave Night Elves the ability to hide in the shadows at night and she can cause beams of moonlight to strengthen her followers and sear enemies.
  • Walking Spoiler: While her existence and nature is not a spoiler the fact that Elune is one of the First Ones is.
