Who Wants to Be a Superhero?/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Anti-Villain: The Dark Enforcer could be seen as a Type 1. Even though he was a menacing supervillain and held a grudge against his former teammates, he still worked for Stan Lee (referring to him as "boss"), didn't hurt the superheroes' family and friends when he "interviewed" them, and gave himself up once the remaining three heroes stopped him from blowing up Universal Park.
  • Creator's Pet: Some fans thought that Fat Momma and Hygenia were lame superheroes that should not have gotten as far as they did in their respective seasons but Stan Lee seemed to like them.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Monkey Woman's Determinator moment in season one where even though it takes her nine minutes, she fights her way to the target with attack dogs hanging off her. To put it in perspective, most of the others just ran to the door or gave up when the dogs got them down. The only other one who gave a real fight was Feedback.
    • Season two's Final Battle with Docter Dark. Yes, it was staged, but let's face it, they got to live out just about anyone's childhood fantasy and fight as a superhero they created, complete with their superpowers (which was CGI and they didn't get to see until after editing, but still)!
  • Ear Worm: The Fat Momma theme song. She even gets a crowd singing it.

"Fat Momma, Fat Momma, I'm here to save the day. Fat Momma, Fat Momma, I'll take your food away."

  • Ensemble Darkhorse: The above-mentioned Fat Momma. In one of the final episodes, the remaining three contestants had to convince an elementary school class to be inspired by their hero persona, and then the kids of the class had to stand behind their favorite. Fat Momma gave a heartwarming speech about learning to love yourself for who you are, and more than half the class got behind her.
  • Game Breaker: A late challenge in the second season involved bonding with children and using the knowledge they were taught in school to solve some puzzles. The guy who failed? Parthenon, who was a teacher, and therefore didn't need the childrens' help. Nobody thought about this beforehand.
  • Wangst: Fat Momma in Season 1, and Whip-Snap in Season 2, both teeter on the edge between angst and wangst, especially Whip-Snap.
    • Whip-Snap's wangsting got her eliminated - Stan Lee's final speech to her basically said, "If you can't deal with your own problems, you have no business being a superhero on top of it."
    • Monkey Woman is Season 1 also had this problem: she was on the verge of tears every time something didn't go right for her.
  • Unfortunate Names: Having a hero name like Basura? In Tagalog (and in Spanish), it means rubbish/trash.
