• Alternate Character Interpretation: Every LOTR character has all their flaws exaggerated to comedic levels, and astonishingly, it works.
• Badass Decay: Aragorn when he loses his Ranger skills, but he gets better.
• Die for Our Ship: A controversial point in the series is the treatment of Arwen, who left Aragorn in a messy divorce and sold the childrens' mortal remains to the British Museum, as well as pinching everything he owned save his clothes.
• Magnificent Bastard: Gandalf and Legolas. Other older elves have shades of this.
