Non Sequitur Scene: Jess's last free kick, when she briefly sees the wall of opposing teams as her family. To the sound of Puccini's "Nessun Dorma."
- In all fairness, it could be interpreted as Jess warring with her family's traditions, and what she really wanted to do. That's why it was her mother, sister, and other female members of her family. They represented the obstacle, if you will, that she had to overcome in order to really pursue football as a profession.
  - Also, it was pretty damn funny.
- Several of Pinky's wedding guests start brawling with the cameraman for no stated reason.
Crowning Moment of Awesome: Both Jess and Pinky share their triumphant moments at the same time, Jess as she makes the free kick and wins the championship, and Pinky as she's lifted up on the dance floor by her new husband.
Crowning Moment of Funny: "All I'm saying is, there is a reason why Sporty Spice is the only one of them without a fella."
- For this troper it was the "mosquitoe bites" comment because her Indian parents do exactly the same thing to her.
- Those both work, but to this troper, the funniest moment was when Jules's mom is so flustered by everything that she can barely spit out "Take your lesbian feet out of my shoes!"
  - And then the various old relatives mishear it and talk amongst themselves: "Lesbian? Her birthday's in March. I thought she was a Pisces." "Uh-uh, she no Lebanese, she Punjabi."
Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: In the final confrontation between Jess and her family, her father explains how, despite being a near-professional talent, he quit a cricket league because the other players referred to him as a "raghead". He says he did it to "show them", but now wonders who really suffered more, as he gave up a game he loved. He ends by saying that he doesn't "want Jess to suffer anymore," and Jess's mother, who never knew the entire story of his quitting the team, understands his feelings and gives her grudging approval for Jess to continue her career.
- Also, the scene in the airport. Jess and Jules are heading off to fulfill their ambitions and realize their potential. Meanwhile, Jules's mother offers Jess's mom a hanky, while the dads shake hands and formally introduce themselves.
Fan-Preferred Couple: Throw three darts into the romance fanfics for this film, and two of them will be Jess/Jules.
Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The movie recently became the first western film ever aired on North Korean TV (albeit with edits), so don't be surprised if it develops a disproportionately large North Korean fanbase in the years to come.
Les Yay: No small amount. In the original script, they were gay.
Narm: "No, I REALLY like David Beckham," - Tony, when coming out to Jess. Less narm-ish and more heartbreaking when you consider that it is entirely possible he can't find any other way to tell her.
