Is the World Strange, or is Cosmo Strange? Yes.

Cosmo Jarvis (Harrison Cosmo Krikoryan Jarvis) is a singer/song-writer/filmmaker/actor from Devon, England. He made his debut with the two-part album "Humasyouhitch/Sonofabitch." His second album, "Is the World Strange or Am I Strange?" was far better received than the first, notably with the single "Gay Pirates." The video for the single became a viral hit when it was tweeted by Stephen Fry.

While Jarvis never sticks to one single genre, his work often makes use of punk screams, reggae rhythms and mandolins. His short films range from horror to comedy to thrillers, and often use very complex shots.

Cosmo Jarvis provides examples of the following tropes:
  • Blatant Lies: The girl from She Doesn't Mind allegedly:
    • Knows Shakespeare off by heart
    • Is a trombone player
    • An active member of Green Peace
    • Trilingual
    • Curing cancer
    • About to finish writing her fifth book
    • Has a record deal
    • Paints
    • Wrote her own Theory on Relativity (it's better than Einstein's)
    • Found a way to put an end to global warming (during breakfast)
    • Getting a Nobel Prize
    • Enjoys anal sex.
    • Is engaged to the narrator.
  • Bros Before Hoes: She's Got You.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: In his music videos and sketches, Cosmo often plays the kind of guy who is incable of having a normal conversation with a woman without blurting out awful things. Practicing for Women is awkward to say the least.
  • Gayngster: The theme of his Valentine's Day exclusive video for the gay website, afterelton.com.
  • Grand Romantic Gesture: The ending to the gay mobster sketch.
  • Last Kiss/Embrace: The Wave That Made Them Happy. The man is about to be killed by a tidal wave, and is standing next to the woman he loves and has treaty unkindly. He wants her to forgive him for everything he's said and done, and begs her just to let him hold her one last time before they die.

"If I can't hold you in my hands, my life ain't worth a fucking damn."
(...)
"With my forty seconds left, I would like to feel your breath, babe. What do you say?"

  • Misplaced Retribution: In his short film, The Promotion, the man in the suit explains that he kidnapped the man in the chair because the guy was promoted instead of him.
  • Obsession Song: Maxine.
  • Pedophile Priest: The video (although not the song) for Sure As Hell Not Jesus is about a priest with awful desires and friends in high places.
  • Unusual Euphemism: She doesn't mind the "Ooh-ooh-ooooh." You know, anal sex.
  • Walk the Plank: The fate of the pirate couple in Gay Pirates.
  • When I Was Your Age: The entire premise of My Day. Subverted, in that the narrator doesn't actually look back on those days fondly, and believes that his generation were awful, disrespectful bastards.
  • You Are Worth Hell: How the Pirate Jarvis feels about Sebastian.
